15 octobre International Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day (OCT 15th)
Today – Wednesday, October 15th is:
International Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day
So many parents suffer in silence and need to know that they are not alone, and that miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal death is no longer a taboo subject. Support groups founded by and facilitated by parents are being formed all over the country to help families through the tragedy of losing their baby. Help is available.
On September 28, 2006, when Resolution #222 was brought before the house to support IPILR Day, California Representative Brian Bilbray told of his own personal story 22 years ago. He and his wife lost their precious baby at the age of 3 months to crib death which is now known as SIDS.
Quote by California Representative Brian Bilbray: “I do not talk about a situation that occurred over 22 years ago in my family. Actually it was 22 years, 2 months ago that my wife and I lost our child at 3 months to crib death. I am sure you have got to believe that 22 years should be able to cover up the pain and the hurt and the scar. But it does not. And though we have been blessed with five healthy children, we will always have that missing spot that that little 3-month-old baby filled. But I want to thank you for today, and I stand up here today and speak of this matter to represent the men and women who have gone through what my family has gone through, and thank you for this.
If I may leave you with one message: more important than us grieving for our losses of those young ones that have died and are not here today, the best way for us to really remember them is to appreciate and worship and thank God for the blessings of having healthy children and babies that we can take care of. Because they truly are the best memorial for our babies that we have lost, by preserving and protecting the treasures that God has given us in healthy children.”
Soon after, they agreed to pass the House Resolution.
You can help acknowledge the losses of parents whose children have died in pregnancy or infancy by participating in the “Global Wave of Light”, in their memory.

National Depression Screening Day®
National Depression Screening Day® began in 1991, introducing the concept of large-scale mental health screenings. Screenings now include both in-person and online programs for depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, alcohol problems, and suicide prevention. Programs are carried out in many different places - nearly 600,000 screenings were completed at some 12,000 facilities in one year, alone.
Some facts about depression:
· Depressive disorders affect approximately 18.8 million American adults or about 9.5% of the U.S. population age 18 and older in a given year.
· Trauma, loss of a loved one, a difficult relationship, or any stressful situation may trigger a depressive episode. Subsequent depressive episodes may occur with or without an obvious trigger.
· Depressive disorders costs employers more than $51 billion (US) per year in absenteeism and lost productivity, not including high medical and pharmaceutical bills.
· More than 80 percent of people with clinical depression can be successfully treated. With early recognition, intervention, and support, most individuals can lead productive lives.

2 octobre Feast of the Guardian Angels DayOctober 2nd, is...
Feast of the Guardian Angels Day
Today's feast appeared in Spain during the sixteenth century. It was extended to the universal Church and made obligatory in 1670.
"Be alert in your every action as one should be who is accompanied by angels in all your ways, for that mission has been enjoined upon them. In whatever lodging, in whatever nook or corner you may find yourself, cherish a reverence for your guardian angel. In his presence do not dare to do anything you would not do in mine. Or do you doubt his presence because you do not see him? Would it really help if you did hear him, or touch him, or smell him? Remember, there are realities whose existence has not been proven by mere sight.
Brethren, we will love God's angels with a most affectionate love; for they will be our heavenly co-heirs some day, these spirits who now are sent by the Father to be our protectors and our guides. With such bodyguards, what are we to fear? They can neither be subdued nor deceived; nor is there any possibility at all that they should go astray who are to guard us in all our ways. They are trustworthy, they are intelligent, they are strong — why, then, do we tremble? We need only to follow them, remain close to them, and we will dwell in the protection of the Most High God. So as often as you sense the approach of any grave temptation or some crushing sorrow hangs over you, invoke your protector, your leader, your helper in every situation. Call out to him and say: Lord, save us, we are perishing." — St. Bernard
“For the Scriptures say, 'He orders his angels to protect and guard you.’” – Luke 4:10
“Don't you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly?” – Matthew 26:53
“I will send My angel, who shall go before thee, and keep thee in thy journey: and bring thee into the place that I have prepared.” – Exodus 23:20
“For he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone.” – Psalms 91:11-12

International Day of Nonviolence & Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary
The United Nations General Assembly recently established this day (on June 15th, 2007). The very first celebration of the International Day of Nonviolence was observed in Bangkok, Thailand, by the United Nations’ Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP or ESCAP). IDNV was established to recognize the importance of nonviolence as a way of life and as a tactic of social change; and the day was intentionally planned to fall on the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's date of birth.
